Digital vision - 10 reasons why you need one

I often get the question: what should our digital strategy be?

The answer is of course: It depends on what you want to become.

Your digital vision is just that: It is you deciding what you want to become. The strategy will follow.

Here are 10 reasons why you need a clear - and compelling - vision:

1. Your vision will guide your digital strategy. When starting to work on your digital transformation, to have a clear vision is key.

2. Your vision tells everyone in your organisation where you are going (and ultimately will help you get there).

3. It will help guide you in decisions on what you should do - but will also guide you in what NOT TO DO.

4. It pushes you to think long and hard about your customers; what they need, what they like and above all - what they will need and like TOMORROW.

5. It allows you to dream about the future (what is not to like about that) …

6. … and also forces you to look at data and insights to make an informed bet about the future. (Each compelling vision has to be based on insights)

7. It guides and ultimately helps you optimise investments.

8. It is a great support when you really need to say NO. Digital opportunities are endless and let’s face it, you cannot do it all.

9. It inspires and engages everyone in the organisation and gives that extra spark of enthusiasm that is needed to do the really difficult stuff. (Yup, digital transformation is difficult).

10. And finally. It helps you to be brave: If you can dream it, you can see it. If you can see it, you can do it.
